new year resolutions 2006
i saw this on my friend's msn nickname:
"the dying hours of 2005"
indeed.
2005 - a year full of trials and tribulations, of friendships made and strengthened, of spiritual growth, of emotional rollercoasters, of academic depression and boom, of unveiling of unknowns, of learning truths which I hope were never true.
A quick review of my resolutions for 2005
- read the Bible and do my quiet time regularly (only for first half of 2005, sadly)
- study consistently and reduce the amount of last minute study ( I practised more and realised I still need equally high doses of last minute reading up)
- get my 4A's for prelims( only managed 1 A, the only one in my entire 2 years in hwachong)
- read magazines and newspapers regularly - attempt to achieve A2 for GP (well...i side-tracked to reading manga ^-^ )
- reduce time spent on gaming and internet [somewhat successful] (I’m always “online”..it’s JUST my MSN status. Don’t believe it.)
- do tutorials before classes; read up lecture notes before attending lectures (yes for the doing, no for the reading)
- be thrifty in my spending - save for digicam and prom! [huge success!]
- exercise regularly [successful only in 2nd semester when we started playing badminton]
- practise bass guitar/drums as leisure[ successful in that I STILL learnt how to play the guitar even if I didn’t practise much on bass and drums]
- call home once a week, don't just sms [ somewhat successful…at least once every fortnight]
- keep in touch with friends regularly (feeling guilty of not accomplishing this)
- ensure that my room is tidy, clean it every fortnightly (boleh tahan lar)
- new attitude: be more assertive when it comes to decision making [there’s improvement!]
- enquire about uni admissions and courses [ success! Completed most uni applications already!]
that’s roughly a score of 7/14.. 50% success rate. Not bad for a start..hehe.
This coming 365.25 days, I will set these resolutions as a personal challenge:
-step one to saving money: master the art of cooking and baking. make something new too!
-do not be late. Kick the 'last-minute' habit
-think again, if necessary
-remember that all things are possible, if you really want it to be that way
-also remember, " trying your best do to something is in itself a talent". never give up
-maintain a close walk with God
-show more concern for my loved ones
-write emails to friends i seldom see! esp my beloved mbs buddies, YGmates, n my sis!
celebrated the coming of the new year at my aunt's place...had yummy steamboat! very nice house, i'm inspired to work hard to build my own cosy abode with a huge kitchen and private swimming pool! still couldn't believe that i played basketball with my sis at 1am!!! then had my first driving lessons later at 8am. what a wonderful way to kick off the new year =p
may 2006 not be a deja vu of forgettable times but an unforgettable year with new hopes and new perspectives!
